Over the past few weeks and months, elections have been held within the selection districts of the Holsteiner Horse Breeders’ Association (Verband der Züchter des Holsteiner Pferdes e.V.) to select the candidates for the board elections. A total of nine candidates received the required level of support in a licensing district and are therefore eligible to stand in the board election on 31 March.
In the Bordesholm and Europa breeding districts, the elections were held as in-person events. The other breeding districts had to resort to a postal ballot due to the worsening coronavirus situation. As formal errors occurred during this ballot in the selection districts of Rendsburg-Eckernförde, Schleswig-Flensburg and Stormarn-Lauenburg, the vote in these three districts had to be repeated. Unfortunately, in the three districts mentioned, voter turnout did not exceed 50 per cent during the repeat vote, meaning that the results from these districts cannot be counted.
