The Contender-Reichsgraf son Contendro I, bred by Manfred Birchler (SUI), stem 104A, has passed away. The stallion reached the age of 27.
He leaves behind 115 licenced sons worldwide and 64 horses with success in 1.60-metre classes. Contendro I was licenced in 1999, where he was named premium stallion, and following his superior victory in the stallion performance test, he initially stood in the Hanoverian main breeding area for several years, and later also in France. His progeny frequently impressed on official platforms with very good free jumping, their technique and simultaneously good movement, meaning he is also responsible for numerous horses successful in eventing (and dressage). For years he was highly ranked in the WBFSH rankings for showjumping and eventing. Louise Romeike's Tokyo Olympic horse Cato (dam's sire: Heraldik xx) is by Contendro I. Among his best-known Holsteiner offspring in the showjumping arena are C the Stars (dam's sire: Cassini I; Stephan Dubsky/IRL) and Contendrix (dam's sire: Carinjo/Toni Hassmann). The appearances of the Hanoverian-registered Codex One with Christian Ahlmann will also remain in long memory.
The dam Bravo produced the sire Caretano from the mating with Caretino, who was internationally successful with Jos Lansink, as well as Contendro II and Cassito (by Cassiano) and O-Contendra, who when mated with Casall produced Chaka Chaka (Janne F. Meyer-Zimmermann/GER) and other sport horses.
