Small, but lightning-fast and talented – that’s how people describe Robin Naeves’s successful horse, Casalia R by Casall-Loran. And at the Longines Balve Optimum, the pair once again demonstrated their class, winning the qualifier for the U25 Jumping Cup and thereby securing their place on the hallowed turf in Aachen. Only three riders made it through to the jump-off of the S*** class: Robin Naeve rode his mare, bred by ZG Redderberg (Ahrensbök), line 1907, clear of faults and crossed the finish line as the fastest.

In Kronenberg (NED), a Nations Cup over 1.50 metres was held, in which Chakra by Casall-Quidam de Revel (Johann Peter Lass, Leck), line 5382, and Eoin McMahon were part of the victorious Irish team. “I’m very happy that Chakra and I were able to contribute to Ireland’s victory with two clear rounds,” McMahon wrote on his Instagram page.

And yet another son of Casall made a name for himself this weekend: Chaka Chaka, who has a Contender dam and was bred by Daniel Lehmann (Seengen), won the Balve Championship with Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann in the saddle. Chaka Chaka, a former Holstein State Champion, is just eight years old, hails from line 104A and is now being gently introduced to the full-fledged show jumping circuit by the Pinneberg-based rider. “I’m overwhelmed,” said a beaming winner at the end.

Cortino, a son of Coriano and Caretino bred by Ernst Schacht (Todendorf), is a representative of line 776 and won a 1.50-metre show jumping class in St. Gallen (SUI) with his 22-year-old rider Edouard Schmitz (SUI). It was the bay’s first victory at this level.
