Canadian rider Mario Deslauriers and Amsterdam by Catoki-Acord II (Sönke Petersen, Behrendorf), line 741, have won a CSI4* show jumping competition with a prize fund of 73,000 dollars in Tryon, USA. “He’s such a pleasure to ride and jumps beautifully,” gushed Deslauriers about the bay. “He’s made great progress and is getting better and better.” In 2019, Amsterdam was the top Holsteiner in the WBFSH rankings, after he and Deslauriers enjoyed repeated success in five-star competitions, including in Toronto, Spruce Meadows and at the Pan American Games in Lima. The Catoki son is only ten years old and has been in the Canadian rider’s care for two years.
Last weekend, Karl Cook (USA) and Caillou by Casall-Corrado I (Max-Hermann Johannsen, Hörup), line 4510, to victory in the Tryon Grand Prix; this weekend, they secured an outstanding second place in the President’s Cup, which carried a prize fund of US$214,000.
In Opglabbeek, Belgium, Quintino – a son of Quinton-Cracker Jack bred by Peter Nagel-Tornau (Wangels), line 318D2, and Christian Kukuk (GER) excelled in a 1.45-metre competition with two clear and fast rounds, winning the event.
In a 1.40-metre show jumping competition in Vilamoura (Portugal), the eight-year-old Confetti M by Connor-Alcatraz (Harald Meisinger, Schwanau) and David Will (GER) took second place. Even as a six-year-old, this representative of the 223B line distinguished himself by being the most successful Holsteiner horse in show jumping competitions that season. Today, he is already placing at 1.45-metre level.
