55 years with the Holsteiner Verband: Golden Badge of Honour for Eckhard ...

With a standing ovation, the audience in the Fritz-Thiedemann-Halle celebrated a man whom one can undoubtedly call a "Holsteiner original". Eckhard Schöning has been an institution at the Holsteiner Verband for 55 years. He was awarded the Golden Badge of Honour of the Association of Breeders of the Holsteiner Horse by President Olaf Rörden.

Eckhard Schöning began his work at the Holsteiner Verband in the early 1970s. Initially, he worked for one year in Herbert Blöcker's competition stable. After that, he went to the Verband station in Langenhagen (East Holstein). There he primarily cared for the stallions Caletto I and Calypso II, which Dr Michael Rüping rode. To these was then added another Holsteiner Verband stallion, the unforgettable Silbersee. Eckhard "Ecki" Schöning also accompanied "his" stallions to their competition appearances back then. In 2014 he officially retired, but no one can imagine the Holsteiner Verband without Ecki.

The entire team of the Holsteiner Verband in Elmshorn hopes to be able to rely on Ecki's expertise and reliable support for many more years to come.

Greetings from Eckhard Schöning's companions:
