At the 30th anniversary of the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers, five Holsteiner Association stallions competed – in the five- and seven-year-old show jumper classes as well as in the ‘Sires of the World’ stallion jumping competition.
The five-year-old stallions Deichkind by Don VHP-Limbus (Rasmus Lüneburg, Hetlingen), line 8763, ridden by Arne van Heel, and Union City by United Way-Connor (Alf Bartholomäus, Klein Offenseth), line 18A2, ridden by Lucas Wenz, jumped clear in both qualifiers. The qualifiers were held in ‘clear round’ format, in which clear rounds are counted as a win. Thanks to these performances, the pair progressed to Sunday’s final, in which Arne van Heel, riding Deichkind, chose not to complete the course following faults at the jumps, whilst Lucas Wenz and Union City finished the World Championships for Young Show Jumpers with one fault.
In the seven-year-olds’ class, Vigado by Vigo d’Arsouilles-Quo Vados I (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 776, rode clear in the second qualifier under Lucas Wenz.
Keaton HV by Kannan-Contendro I (Rudolf Schmitt, Wöhrden), line 4847, and Arne van Heel secured seventh place in the opening Sires of the World show jumping competition. In the main Sires of the World show jumping competition, United Way by Uriko-Concerto II (Holsteiner Verband, Elmshorn), line 1916, achieved a fantastic fourth place with Lucas Wenz following the first round and jump-off.
Offspring and relatives of association stallions…
…were also highly successful in Lanaken: at the Belgian Championships, the dam of the four-year-old association stallion Karlo de Kalvarie, Qiara de Kalvarie, won the silver medal with Gilles Thomas in the saddle. The mare had already attracted attention this year with top placings on the Global Champions Tour.
A son of United Way-Connor, bred by Christina Bueller, reached the final for five-year-old show jumpers. Uruguay was ridden by Stefan Rödl and qualified for the final with two clear rounds in the qualifiers, where he finished in 17th place.
The Diarado son Oreo Brownie H finished fifth in the final for six-year-olds. Benedikte Serigstadt Endresen from Norway rode the KWPN-registered stallion.
