The contract for the Holsteiner stud farm in Dägeling is due to expire in November 2021 as scheduled and has not been renewed. Dr Nicole Hoffmann and Michaela Kölling from the Gestüt Buchenhof veterinary practice (VETART) will continue their work even without the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH stallion station.

The stud farm was established in 2004, whilst the Gestüt Buchenhof veterinary practice moved to Dägeling in 2014. Insemination with fresh or frozen semen, embryo transfer, cyst treatment and the management of problem mares are among the services offered by the veterinary practice. “And, of course, inseminations using semen from the Hengsthaltungs GmbH’s sires can still be carried out there,” says Managing Director Norbert Boley, who expresses his gratitude for the collaboration.

“It is very important to us to keep Holsteiner breeders and friends of the Holsteiner horse informed about the latest breeding options,” emphasises board member Inken Gräfin von Platen-Hallermund. “Just as we did a few years ago with regard to embryo transfers – which are now standard practice – the Holsteiner Verband would like to inform its members about the ICSI method and facilitate a lively exchange of views,” she continues. The form this will take is currently being discussed by the Executive Board and the regional licensing committee chairpersons and will be published in due course on the Holsteiner Verband’s website.
