Competition events on 20 August: Ready to start and the rest of the programme

This coming Sunday, 20 August, Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH in Elmshorn will be focusing entirely on the next generation: At the R+V Holsteiner Foal Championships, the best foals of the year will be crowned, whilst young riders will have a great time competing with their horses and ponies in competition classes for children and teenagers.

All participants are asked to confirm their intention to take part by email (jenny_crone@hotmail.de) by 6.00 pm on Saturday, 19 August. The relevant starting lists and group allocations will then be sent out by email on Saturday evening.

Anyone who does not (yet) ride themselves can let off steam on the bouncy castles, have a glitter tattoo applied, tuck into ice cream, crêpes and chips, and, of course, watch the action on the show jumping arena: The competition classes begin at 10.30 am. A lead-rein class and a riding competition will be held – each divided into two divisions due to the high number of entries. “We’re delighted that so many people want to take the opportunity to ride on the large championship arena in Elmshorn,” says Sebastian Rohde, Managing Director of Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH, which is supporting the competition with high-quality prizes for the participants.

Following the competition, at around 12.15 pm, Susan Kröhnert will give an exclusive reading from her children’s book *Eliot B*. The story centres on 13-year-old Lisa, who is set to leave her old life behind and go to boarding school – her friendship with an unloved horse takes her on an exciting journey that will set not only children’s hearts racing. At 1.00 pm, the main stage will then belong to the foals, who will be competing for victory and placings in the R+V Holsteiner Foal Championship. Fifty-six foals from the 2023 crop will arrive with their proud breeders, all of whom hope that their foal will be awarded a coveted winner’s sash and a cash prize of 2,000 euros, presented by the R+V General Agency Birte Stapelfeldt.
