As well as the countless offspring in the sport with whom Casall has been making a name for himself for many years now, it is, of course, also his licensed sons who are promoting their famous sire. HorseTelex currently lists around 230 stallions approved for breeding – many of whom are also competing at the very highest level in sport. And many of them are on their way there. Below is a selection of licensed Casall sons from around the world.
Cascadello I
Many will still remember the spectacular performances of Cascadello I (sire: Clearway, breeder: Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), line 4847, during his licensing in Neumünster in 2011. The reserve champion was sold at auction for 400,000 euros to Prof. Dr Bernd Heicke of Gestüt Fohlenhof. From the outset, Prof. Heicke presented Cascadello I at the Dirk Ahlmann stallion station in Reher. From there, the Casall son achieved sporting success up to 1.50 metres, sired the champion stallion Charleston, champion mares and many sport horses. Cascadello I currently ranks 25th on the WBFSH sire ranking list.
Alicante
Alicante (sire: Indoctro, breeder: Ronald Nowee, Netherlands), line 8777, who was licensed by the KWPN and SF, achieved an impressive string of competitive successes under various riders. These included rides with Jérôme Guéry for Belgium.
Casallco
Casallco (sire: Contender, breeder: Frans Vrenken, Netherlands), line 8798, is competing at 1.60-metre level under Philip Rüping – winning, for example, at the CSI Hof Waterkant in Pinneberg – and has already sired 14 licensed sons himself.
Chopin VA
With Chopin VA (sire: Coriano, breeder: Manfred von Allwörden, Gröhnwohld), line 5064, Casall has produced yet another son who is successful both as a sire and in competition. The dark bay is currently competing on the show jumping circuit with the Swedish star rider Peder Fredericson; previously, Mathilda Karlsson (SRI) was in the saddle. With Chinchero (Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann), Chopin produced the reserve champion in 2019 and, at the same time, the top-priced horse at the stallion auction, fetching 400,000 euros.
Dark Chocolate
Dark Chocolate (MV. Acodetto I, breeder: ZG Oldekop/Hulshof, Schönwalde), line 3389, is based at Denis Lynch’s (IRL) stables. The stallion, licensed in Westphalia, has developed from a youngster on the Youngster Tour into an international show jumper.
Chezarro
At his licensing, Chezarro (sire: Conteur, breeder: Gabriele Kowalski, Stadum), line 1298, impressed not only with his free jumping but also with his excellent basic gaits. This promising young horse from the Holsteiner Verband is now successfully competing on courses up to 1.30 metres. Incidentally, with Cascolero (sire: Cornet Obolensky, breeder: Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), line 7126, the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH has had another promising young son of Casall in its stock since the most recent licensing.
Connor
With Connor (sire’s sire: Cor de la Bryère, breeder: Eduard Struve, Satrup), line 6879, breeders now have access to a stallion from the direct dam line of the legendary Corrado through the Holsteiner Verband’s stallion programme. Connor has already sired international competition horses, such as Conner JEI (Martin Fuchs/SUI).
Central Park
The Casall son Central Park (sire’s sire: Contender, breeder: Lothar Steuer, Pansdorf), line 318D2, was reserve champion at his 2015 licensing in Neumünster. The black stallion is based at the Hell stud farm in Klein Offenseth and has sired four licensed sons to date.
