For the upcoming breeding season, the Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH offers its breeders an interesting option for the use of frozen semen – and those who make use of this option can plan for additional discounts.

Specifically, frozen semen from the stallions Uriko and Clarimo, which can be prepared and used just like fresh semen, will be offered primarily via the association's breeding stations. Both stallions are available with excellent frozen semen; they will no longer be used for fresh semen this year. "I have had good experiences with this practice for quite some time now," says Olaf Rörden, chairman of the Holsteiner Verband and station manager on Föhr. "In this way, we can make these highly sought-after stallions available to our breeders who do not wish to inseminate directly with frozen semen." Handling compared to conventional frozen semen is significantly simplified: with this technique, it is not necessary – unlike the usual use of frozen semen – to examine the mare multiple times a day every few hours to determine the optimal time for insemination.

And for the 2026 breeding season, the Holsteiner Verband's stallion keeping division is offering its customers a 10 percent discount on the total stud fee when they use this procedure with the stallions Uriko and Clarimo.

Upon request, the procedure can also be used if other stallions are not available via fresh semen, for example due to competition commitments.
