Over the past two days, 37 young show jumping stallions have been assessed by the judging panel in the sport test at the Niedersachsenhalle in Verden. “Your stallions were really in excellent form here. It was simply a pleasure to watch them,” said Hubert Uphus of the judging panel afterwards.
Vigado by Vigo d’Arsouilles–Quo Vados I (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 776, finished with the second-best result among the four-year-olds. The jury awarded the chestnut two marks of 9.0 – for ability and overall impression. Two marks of 8.8 for manner and rideability, as well as an 8.5 for the canter, added up to a weighted, jumping-focused final mark of 8.81. “With Vigado, we were presented with a stallion who possesses a great deal of quality and who showed himself to be both fresh and supple at the same time,” emphasised Uphus.
In the five-year-olds’ rankings, the reigning State Champion, Charaktervoll by Comme il faut–Contendro I (Manfred von Allwörden, Grönwohld), line 474A, was once again in the spotlight. “Charaktervoll is a typical son of Comme il Faut, endowed with a great deal of attitude, drive and ability,” praised Hubert Uphus. His final score of 8.88 – the best in his age group – was made up of three scores of 9.0 for ability, manner and overall impression. He also received an 8.6 for his canter and an 8.8 for rideability. With an overall score of 8.67, Cardentos by Cardento-Quo Vados I (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), line 776, came in a close second – he too received a 9.0 for ability. “A fantastic horse with a great deal of ability, whom one can easily picture competing on the big competition stages,” the judge continued, speaking of the large-framed grey.
The other association stallions also all received overall marks in the good range: the four-year-old Camino Royal by Clarimo finished with 8.62, whilst Daikon by Dominator Z, of the same age, completed the test with a mark of 8.09. The five-year-old stallions Cahil by Cornet Obolensky (8.25) and Dubliner by Dinken (8.37) also all achieved overall scores above 8.
