Following Saturday’s Holsteiner Elite Foal Auction, the R+V Holsteiner State Foal Championship on Sunday (25 August) is the very next highlight on the equestrian calendar. Here, the state’s finest foals will compete in three categories to determine their champions.
At the foal registration and grading events held over the past few weeks, the best representatives of the 2024 crop have qualified to take part in the State Foal Championship – sponsored by the R+V General Agency Edzards and Stapelfeldt. Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH is organising the event in Elmshorn, at which a filly, a colt and a dressage-oriented foal will be crowned champions. Around 45 promising young horses have been entered into the starting lists by their breeders and owners. The filly foals will kick off proceedings at 12 noon, followed by the colts’ classification at around 2 pm, after which the Herbert-Blöcker-Platz will be taken over by the dressage-oriented contenders.
Cheques for the winning foals will be presented by the R+V General Agency Edzards and Stapelfeldt. High-quality prizes for the winners and runners-up are sponsored by Bense & Eicke, ClipMyHorse.tv, LKD Hauke Ahsbahs and Salvana Pferdefutter, whilst stud fee vouchers are sponsored by Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH. Breeding experts are always invited to judge the foals: this year, Henrik Klatte, Matthias Wittke and Marten Witt make up the trio of judges. Admission to the R+V Holsteiner State Foal Championship on 25 August is free. It’s well worth a visit for the whole family, as a bouncy castle is on hand to provide fun and games for the little ones.
