Just last weekend, Qiara de Kalvarie by Sea Cost Don’t Touch Tiji Hero shone at the Global Champions Tour leg in Paris, France. With Belgian rider Gilles Thomas in the saddle, the nine-year-old bay mare took third place in the 1.55-metre Eiffel Challenge. But Qiara de Kalvarie is not only of sporting interest; her pedigree is also impressive. She is descended from the famous Atousha van’t Roosakker, who is not only a half-sister to Ben Maher’s (GBR) Cella by Cento, but also plays a significant role in international show jumping breeding. Entire books could be filled with details of this mare line, but one horse from this line is currently more relevant than ever – for Dourkhan Hero, who recently won the five-star Grand Prix at the German Show Jumping Derby in Hamburg with Christian Ahlmann, is Qiara de Kalvarie’s full brother.
The family of Karlo de Kalvarie, particularly his dam line, possesses highly sought-after genetics. These genetics are made available to breeders in Holstein through the Holsteiner Verband’s Hengsthaltungs GmbH.
