At the end of September, three anniversaries were celebrated in Elmshorn: those of Michaela Riewesell, Uwe Benzin and Gerard Muffels.
All three have been inextricably linked with Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH for many years, and all three had wished for a small but lovely celebration in a cosy setting. And this despite the fact that they all deserved something rather grander. Michaela Riewesell has been working for the Holsteiner Verband for 35 years. Following her training as a horse management specialist, she accompanied horses to competitions and worked at all kinds of events. Later, ‘Ela’ – as she is known to her colleagues – moved into the office, where she continues to handle semen orders and dispatch to this day.

Uwe Benzin has also been working in the stud farm for just over 25 years. There is virtually no event where you won’t see him leading a (young) stallion by the hand. His vast wealth of experience in handling and training the youngest sires is invaluable to the whole team.

The third anniversary celebration honoured Gerard Muffels, who marked his 40th year of service on 9 September. He has been in charge of the stud farm for many years. He always has an open ear for ‘his’ breeders, and his opinion carries weight and significance not only amongst his colleagues. Congratulations to Michaela Riewesell, Uwe Benzin and Gerard Muffels!
