Jens Klöppel is to become head trainer in Elmshorn

Jens Klöppel has been recruited as an experienced trainer and successful show jumper for the riding of the Verband stallions in Elmshorn. The 48-year-old will take up his position on 1 October 2022.

The native of Brandenburg first completed his apprenticeship with Matthias Stieve in North Rhine-Westphalia, then worked inter alia for Gestüt Wahl & Co. in Bielefeld before coming to Northern Germany. He made professional stops at Rainer Schmerglatt (Heeslingen, Lower Saxony) and in Lübeck at Manfred Kummetz's Gestüt Kriseby. He was also self-employed training young show jumpers and has been working at Johann Klindworth's Erlenhof in Elsdorf for nearly three years. He celebrated his greatest successes with the self-trained gelding Carino, with whom he placed second in the Grand Prix at the Löwen-Classics in Braunschweig and fourth in the Grand Prix of Nörten-Hardenberg, among others.

Klöppel has settled down in his wife's home region in Hamburg and has a seven-year-old daughter. "We want to stay here," says the rider, who holds the training of young horses particularly close to his heart. "I think it's great to accompany the sires of the future on their sporting career path and to promote their development step by step. A long-term approach is important to me and I look forward to a trusting cooperation with Sebastian Rohde."

Managing Director Sebastian Rohde is delighted that the team in Elmshorn is now complete with the addition of Jens Klöppel: "We have two excellent grooms as well as two young, talented riders at Jens' side. The riding of the stallions is accordingly very well secured," he is convinced. Soon after Jens Klöppel starts work, there will be a public training session in Elmshorn featuring a presentation of the stallion barn team. All breeders, interested parties and friends of the Holsteiner horse will then have the opportunity to get to know the employees of Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltungs GmbH.
