Cheered on by the home crowd, Zuccero (Hanno Köhncke, Badendorf), a son of Zirocco Blue and Caretino, line 4539, secured three placings this weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, with Rolf-Göran Bengtsson in the saddle.

In the opening 1.45-metre show jumping class, the pair secured ninth place. In the 1.50-metre course, they once again completed the round and the jump-off without a single fault, taking the bronze medal. “Zuccero is in very good form; he has only competed in a few classes since the European Championships, and this was a good test for future competitions,” Bengtsson told Svenska Ridsport Förbundet. In the Grand Prix, the successful pair went on to finish eighth. 

Rolf-Göran Bengtsson received a special honour at the Sweden International Horse Show: he was recognised by the Swedish Equestrian Federation as an “elite rider” for his services in the training of (young) horses and riders. As is well known, he has celebrated many of his successes with Holsteiner stud association stallions such as Casall and, most recently, Zuccero, with whom he won team gold for Sweden this summer.
